Ripple

It’s not so complex, nor is it so simple

The toss of the stone, the reach of the ripple

The words that are spoken but never uttered

The broken heart, the compliment muttered

The thought on the lips that is never quite said

The look on the face, a book just misread

But the stone can’t be stopped once it’s tossed or it’s thrown

Like the words that can sting and damage once flown

For the power of words can punch fast like a fist

Or heal like the magic of when first you were kissed

It’s not so complex nor is it so simple

The toss of that word, the reach of its ripple
